Produktinformationen "Working Together EP (RSD 2019)"
Exclusively for Record Store Day, New Orleans’ Hot 8 Brass Band present a limited edition pressing of “Working Together EP” on transparent blue vinyl. The release sees label mates Wrongtom, J-Felix, Magic Drum Orchestra and Animanz remix previous singles “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “On The Spot”. The record also features “Working Together”, taken from the Grammynominated band’s fifth LP, ‘On The Spot’. Following a festive appearance Live at Maida Vale for Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music) and a raucous ‘Hot 8 New Year’ offering on Jools Holland’s New Year’s Eve Hootenanny, Hot 8 Brass Band kicked off 2019 with the release of their widely acclaimed “Take Cover” EP - receiving support from across the BBC, Rolling Stone, John Kennedy (Radio X), Tony Minvielle (Jazz FM) amongst others - and successful European Take Cover 2019 tour. In Wrongtom’s reworking of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” he smooths out the funk from the original, replacing it with a softer dubby-groove that accentuates the signature horn solos. Taking a different approach, J-Felix embraces a hip hop feel, with added subs and additional guitar parts recorded by the multiinstrumentalist and producer himself. “I love getting a Hot 8 remix” J-Felix adds, “so many authentic and tasty parts to mess with”. “On The Spot”, highlighting a rich blend of horns and cheers, the title track references the moment of brilliance in a New Orleans parade when the band stops to take a break but keeps noodling with their instruments for the crowd. Founding Magic Drum Orchestra member Glyn “Bigga” Bush brings his signature infectious, layered beats and a touch of samba to the track, while new Tru Thoughts singing Animanz go for a deeper electronic 120bpm reworking, bringing Hot 8 into the world of house. The EP also features previous single, “Working Together”. In true Hot 8 style, this track pairs hard-hitting, heart-on-sleeve sentiment with party-fuelling beats, hooks and grooves.
